Fishing is often considered to be a hunting activity mainly suited to men and standing against conservation. Fred Campbell is working hard to break these biases by showing that for many fishers, fishing is far more than simply capturing fish. It means studying an ecosystem, taking a break from the frantic pace of the city, and adopting a lifestyle focused on nature and anchored in respect for the environment. Fred will screen his film before sharing how he sees fishing and the part he plays in a sustainable approach to the environment.
Please note that the conference will now be given by Alexis Pageau ; co-host and photographer for Hooké. ‘’My story started on the Great Barrier Reef, on the coast of Australia near Queensland. The biggest ecosystem on Earth and the most beautiful playground I’ve had the chance of using. Every weekend, when I felt the weather would be kind, I’d put an old boat some friends allowed me to use in the water. With only my camera and a few fishing rods in my bag, I’d navigate to the biggest reefs in the world, looking to find sensations and new places.’’ - Alexis Pageau
